Is your money safe in an ABSA Bank?

Good day hello Peter. to follow is a brief description of what happened to me, apologies not me, my money.

On the 25/26th of March i lost R6000-00. Yes i lost it but i didnt. the money was not in my personal posession but rather "safely" inside my bank. The same bank who takes money every month(whether i have money in my account or not) to supposedly safeguard the money that i entrust them with.

On the sunday morning of the 26th of March i woke up to find numerous messages on my phone that money had been taken from my account by "money transfer" a total of R3000-00 was "removed" just bfore12pm the previous night and another R3000-00 just after 12pm. a total of 6 x R1000-00 transactions leaving me with R6000-00 out of pocket.

Needless to say i followed all the basic steps that ABSA requires you to take in such an event. I phoned the ***** division who immediately cancelled all my cards and internet banking etc. i was told by the lady on the phone that she will send me the claim forms via e-mail, which she did.

I filled in all the forms and attached all the required supporting documentation (including a police case number) and submitted to the referenced e-mail address as supp**** by ABSA.

3 weeks went by when i decided to contact them in regards to the matter. I WAS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED when the lady on the phone told me that the case was never registered with the ***** department. I sent the lady ALL ther preceding mails as proof that i did EXACTLY as ABSA instructed and subsequently after a 3 week wait the case was only registered with ***** department.

I was told in no uncertain terms that the turaround time on a ***** case was 10days.

After more than 10 days and numerous e-mails and phone conversations i was told that they had reached a verdict in regards to my ****** money whilst in their possession.

Yes i was told that it was my fault!!!!!!!!!!!!! But as consolation they will atleast give me back 50%, just because i am such a good ABSA client. BULL****!!!!!!!!

Just a few facts:

i never give out personal details, i never respond to any type of mails requesting info, i am not stupid and know what phishing is.

I was told that my electronic banking was compromised, someone logged into my account, created a beneficiary and payed that beneficiary. How does someone get into my account without my password or login details, and then create a beneficiary without me receiving one single sms to notify me or ask for the surephrase sent to my phone???????

Finally, just another note: when ABSA offered me 50% of MY money that was ****** from THEIR bank, i was given a contract to sign where i needed to promise not to say anything of the money that they so graciously offered to give me back......... really?? why? why the secrecy? are you hiding something ABSA?

I refused to take their 50% offer and opted to take the case to their ombudsman? it has now been another moth later and i have had absolutely no correspondence from anyone whatsoever.

3 months later since my money was ****** from the bank who i entrusted in keeping it safe and i still dont have my money back and even worse, absolutely no communication. excellent client service absa!!!!!

keep up the great wor****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
