Is banking apps not supposed to be free,or do the bank charge fees?

I was a more than a year on absa banking app on my telephone. Suddenly it was locked die to un paid fees. I understand if there are fees aplicable, but was not inform that if I use the app fees Will be charge.

This past saturday i went to a branch to fix it. The friendly guy helped me nicely and i paid R50 into my money builder account where i also paid my unpaid fees, accordingly to him. The app was right until monday the 25th when i tried to log in and the message appear that its locked due to unpaid fees. If i use the app should it not be for free like the other banks?

Absa I am a bit dissapointed that you charge fees for every little thing. Even if i use my data to go on to your app to check my balances on my homeloan account and moneybuilder. I hope someone can help me with the corrwct details and answers.
