******ion of pensioners! *****ULENT BANK
I’m writing this on behalf of my mother who is a pensioner now and is a victim of ABSA *****ulently allowing for her account to be hacked and money to be ****** My mother received a call a few weeks ago (14th of November 2024 to be exact) with someone who seemed to be from the bank who already had all her details. This person proceeded to tell my mother about their Absa rewards - she rep**** and said she’d rather go into the bank personally and ask about these Absa rewards rather than it to be over a phone call Unbeknownst to her, it was already too late. Next thing she knows these people had withdrawn 2500 FIVE TIMES one after another, resulting in a total amount of 12 500 being taken from her account
She immediately called the bank who told her to report it to the police, get a case number and make a statement and then come into the bank. She did all that within 24 hours.
She’s just received feed back from Absa telling her that they won’t be refunding her money as the negligence was deemed to be on her side.
Can I add that this is NOT the first time that Absa has ****** money from my mother. This being a few years ago around this time of the year too.
This is CLEARLY an inside job and Absa are ***ardly not taking accountability for not protecting their clients’ information.
I have many questions but mainly 1. How do you guys pride yourselves with being a bank when customers and their information can’t be protected? 2. Are you guys targeting pensioners because you know your employees (clearly who haven’t been vetted for ******** backgrounds) know who to call 3. Who must be held accountable?
I mean if it’s not your home insurance dragging their feet when we claim for things, now it’s this?!
Someone has to be held accountable
