Internet *****/Sim swap
I noticed high bank fees on my tjek statement when i confronted the bank they said that my 3 day investment does not count anymore for discounted banking fees. Thet claimed to have semd out notices to client for this. I never received ant such notification as several of my friends banking with ABSA. Ive released my investment and reinvested it in a depositor plus plan. 5 days later on Sunday 7th May 2017 my phone suddenly acted up. First thing on monday I went to Vodacom and they informed me that a illigal sim swap had taken place. I reswapped my sim back but due to simswap it took 3 hours before I noticed several unauthorized transactions on my bank account, I went straight to the bank and reported it to the police at HERCULES. The case was referred to the Absa ***** dept which stated that they will only refund half of the money I lost and that took 3 months, I brought the results back to the bankmanager at ABSA Hercules and he advised us not to accept this but to refer it to the ombudsman. the ombudsman also agreed with the bank now I lost every thing ( R97,000) When I confronted the bank manager he suddenly denied giving us the advise not to accept the offer. I feel that since ABSA forced me to move my funds from 32 day to Depositor plus they left me hanging. If the money was still in 32day it could have not been transfered to my tjek account and then withdrawn from my account. Im a pensioner and dont have the means anymore to accumulate that sort of money it was our nest egg in case of emergencies. The manager said that he will asked the ***** dept to reinstate the 50% offer but we must not put our hopes on it. P.S. They ***** dept suggested that I could have reveiled my password etc on the internet and could have been a victim of phising. I vehemly denied that I would do something stupid like that I strongly suspect that this was a inside job. Please advise Yours sincerely D.Snyman
