Interest rate review
I´ve been an Absa client since 2014 or so, if I´m not mistaking. Since then I´ve acquired home loan, home insurance, car insurance and credit card. So, when I asked to reviw my home loan, it was refused. The consultant at Rosebank branch told me that my interest rate was as the same as for Absa employees, that would not be approved. So, he was right. Then, I was offered to upgrade my acount to Premium, so I could get better interest rate in my bond. For that, I have to pay a monthly fee of up to R275.00. So, I went to Hyde Park branch to apply for a bond review. I was put over the phone this time. Waiting for that. Then, I was informed that Absa clients using their cheque account to bay bond get a 0.25% less on their interest rate, but I was eligible and the contract cannot be ammended. My bond now is go close to 50% of my income and the bank cannot review my interest rate. In one year I´m over R5 000.00 more that I paid last year. I´d like Absa to be reasonable and consider my request and re-evaluate my interest rate. Right now, I´m considering other banks to take over my bond with a better service and consideration with its clients.
