Insured through Absa? Ready yourself for unqualified contractors, no service & no response
My Homeowners Insurance is with Absa. I lodged a claim no: *** in September 2022 with them. Their finding was that the previous claim plumber, which they appointed caused the geyser pipe to leak and flood my house. My kitchen cupboards were ruined. The once again appointed a Kama-Kazi contractor who messed up the kitchen cupboard installation and with a lot of mediation, unsuccessfully tried to correct it just with a more messed up result until Absa Insurance decided mid-December they are stopping everything and will pay out for me to appoint a proper contractor to come and do a professional installation. Since then there is a string of emails up and down without Absa making any progress, commitments or doing anything from their side to finalise this - I Guess true AFRICANICITY! I ask them 6 weeks ago to only correspond in writing, no more telephone call (every time with a different person not up to speed with the history and either with a threat or uninformed comments). They just ignores it and keep on sending stupid sms's promising answers within 3 days and never happening, If you ask they say it is system generated. I escalated two weeks ago to their 'Action Line' - they don't even acknowledge, nevermind responding. How does SA regulatory authority allow Absa to have a banking license, an insurance license? And here I am after years of Absa Home Owners insurance, because of their poor quality contractors, without a kitchen for 5 months and no one in Absa is interested.
