I was in a minor incident with my car. I collided with another car in peak traffic. Little damage to both cars. So I had to claim from my insurance which I had for 2 years claim free. My insurance absa idirect was very helpful with the claim process. After about a week or so I received news that my claim was declined. Mmmmm and they did not inform me, I had to phone every day to find out what the status is of my claim.....like I said very very helpful. So they told me that they are refusing my claim because my break fluid pipe was damaged and they do not cover mechanical breakdowns. I was not aware that if a pipe burst on your braking system due to bad road conditions that it is seen as mechanical failure. My car gets serviced on schedule. I have new tyres on my car and I'm a very causios driver. My last car accident claim was more than 5 years ago. I'm not someone who claim for petty things and I'm not someone who abuse insurance. But today I feel that ABSA has abused me by way of taking my Money but refuse me service when I need it. Let's say that I have a pipe in my wall and it suddenly decide to burst, does that now mean that my insurance won't cover it because it's macanical failure....just asking, my breakes on my car worked fine on my way to work. Almost on the end of my journey it suddenly stopped working and I bumped into another car, so dear absa who I have paid for many years refused to help me and the service consultant were very rude, arrogant and ********. Nobody phones me back I had to phone them every day. Eventually I received news that the claim was declined and the 3 Rd party (other car) was also rejected. I had to pay for both cars out of my pocket. Now I ask myself why do I pay insurance if they refuse to pay my claim. I feel that if you were driving a car that is not well looked after and then claim for an accident caused by mechanical breakdown then yes reject the claim. But a burst break fluid pipe is not something that need replacement, only if it gets damaged by something and my cars pipes were in good order when I left work 20 km back in bumper to bumper trafic. Yes I could have **** like thousands other, but I have chosen not to. I could have told you that I slipped on gravel and then my claim would have been paid, but nooooooo you take my money every month and now I have to suffer and pay for both cars and I did not budget to spend R25000. Thank you my dear absa for causing me to suffer now financially every month for paying for something that was supposed to be paid by my "insurance" ( feels like someone ***** my Money every month) thank you for the complete piece of mind ......like you advertise on radio.
