Incorrect default judgement by ABSA VF

In October 2020 I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and by mid November 2020 the investigation by the insurance company was complete and the car was written off. November 2020 ABSA debits my account and when I queried this I was informed that I must claim from the insurance company which I absolutely refused to do and after numerous back and fourths I was informed that I was indeed correct and Absa informed me that I was going to receive Novembers premiums back. 8 December 2020 I contact ABSA and request a settlement letter and I received it virtually same time from Mr. K Otto.

Fast forward to March 2021 I apply for a home loan and I am informed that because there is a default judgement on my name by ABSAVF I am unable to get a home loan. I contact ABSA and spoke to a pleasant lady named Letoya and she informed me that the account is with Legal Dept and for this reason she cannot see what is happening on the account and to get more information I need to go into the branch. So I drop everything and I go to the Pinetown Branch and after waiting in line I am informed that I wont get any information as they don't deal with ABSAVF queries and I must rather sit down by their phone booth and dial ABSAVF from their landline. I explain to the lady that I just got off the phone with them and they told me to go into the branch, the Teller then shrugs her shoulders and says she cant help. I sit at the phone booth for 7 minutes and the phone was just playing that ridiculous music so I put the phone down and walked into the Branch Managers office and requested assistance. I had my settlement letter as well as the decline letter from another Bank which had the default on there and she spent over an hour on the phone trying to get some answers for me but she eventually gave up and gave me some email addresses and sent me on my way.

I sent an email to all 4 people referred to me by the branch manager and only Rookshana contacted me and informed me that the person who was dealing with the matter is currently on leave and she will try to assist me. She later sends an email informing me that she has made contact with Katryn Klooper and is awaiting feedback from her as to why the account is in default and with Legal Dept. She then requests proof of payment for the account and I forward what was given to me by Discovery Insurance as well as a shortfall cover company called Trafficc.

I then received an email on Sunday the 28th of March 21 from Rosinah informing me that the account is in credit and please could I supply her with my banking details. I respond and query this as the week before the account was in arrears by R10 000.00 and was sent to legal department for collection and my ITC record tarnished and the new week the account is in credit? How did this happen when the account is in arrears. I have been trying to contact Mr Booysen ***) and Mr W Nyathi ***) to log a complaint but both numbers have been engaged for days- both numbers were supp**** to me by ABSA representatives.

So I haven't received report back from ABSA as to how my account was sent to the legal department and default judgement being issued when no one contacted me about the "outstanding balance" but from what I can make out ABSA did the following;

1. Incorrectly debited my account in November 2020 2. Passed a credit on my account and claimed from the Insurance company and they then got paid out what was due to them. 3. ABSA sent the same account to the Collections/ Recoveries Dept which in turn didn't contact me about the account and sent to Legal Department. 4. Default judgement now appears on my Credit Report 5. Now I cant get a home loan

I don't think that I would have ever thought a financial institute such as ABSA could get it sooo wrong and I don't think that they understand the ramification this has had on my financial standing and trying to get a resolution or feedback has been so frustrating that it makes me physically sick because I cant sleep. The worst part is that there is no recourse for me and that's why they are dragging their feet. Dealing with ABSA has been a painful experience from day 1, and I am currently investigating how I can cut ties with them because there is no way a bank that is run like a ****a shop can handle my money/ accounts. To add salt to an open wound, certain Departments are working from home because of COVID19 and for that reason please accept zero assistance, service, integrity and response.
