I changed from Nedbank to ABSA in March 2017. on opening of account, I was issued with a letter confirming banking details. This letter was then forwarded through to my Financail Advisor at Old Mutual to have the debit orders go off this new account on 15 March 2017. I contacted my advisor on 17 March to advise that the debit orders have not gone off and he arranged for this to be re-run. On 20 March 2017, I received a letter from Mutual and Federal Advising me that the car insurance has lapsed. with much attempts Mutual and Federal re-ran the debit order which was successful. End of March 2017 i received a call from my financial advisor who indicated that the policy from Mutual and Federal had lapsed again as the account number provided to me was for another client and this client had the debit order reversed. After many attempts, the correct banking details were then provided by the Managers of ABSA: Raisethorpe Branch and my account was eventually debited. However due to the policy lapsing twice, this policy could not be revived and therefore a new policy had to be issued and in this regard there was an increase in the policy of approximately R1200.00. I sent an e-mail to ABSA's complaints department on 05 April 2017 and reminders thereafter to which no responses were received. I then escelated that matter to the Ombadmans on 09 June 2017 was the first time I received a call from the Manageress from the branch who accepted full responsibility for the error made and only proposed to re-emburse me for the difference in the premuims for May 2017 and also wanted me to afford them the opprotunity to offer me a policy with them. I find this very ironical that the same company which was negligent is now expecting me to give them more business. This negligence has terribily inconveneineced me as I had to look for other alternate insurances which cannot match up with the benefits provided by the policy which I have with Mutual and Federal. I further sent another e-mail to the Ombadsman on 15 June 2017 enquiring as to how ABSA is going to compensate me for the increase in the premuims as this was caused through their negligence as I am satisfied with my policy and am not willing to lower the standard due to this. I am still awaiting a response. As a new client of ABSA, it is diasppointing to note that it is now over 2 months and this matter has to date not been resolved. Your intervention in this matter will be highly appreciated.
