im writing this complaint because i know managment at ABSA bank tend to show more urgency when a complaint gets logged. i went to lansdowne branch last year to close my cheque account as i became unemployed and didnt want any charges accumulating. i was recently informed by sars that they sent a refund to my cheque account. i was a bit confused as i knew that i closed it. i then discoverd that of the R8400 sars refunded me only R1800 was available. so i was charged R6600 by absa in bank charges. To say im upset is an understatement....they basically STOLE R6600 from me....this is money i desperately need as im unemployed. i have alerted the management at the branch but due to my recent experiences there im not sure they invesigating urgently as i need them to. i have worked in customer service industry for over 10 years and this is by far the worst experience i have ever had. I thort ABSA was supposed to be a bank that cares about their clients.
