Incompetence from ABSA Vehicle Financing Department

I have done an online application on the 19th of Jan 2017 and got an email saying my loan for my motorcycle was approved and that a consultant will call me to finalise the loan.

I had to phone back on the morning of the 20th of Jan at about 8:00 and I spoke to Nkosinathi. Gave him my details and he said the loan was declined as they do not have the description of the vehicle I want to purchase. He then said he will forward my query to someone that is handling my application (aka Charné) and that she will phone me later.

I phoned back 2 hours later (about 10:00) and spoke to Neville who said that Charné is on annual leave and he will also forward my details to another person aka Nadia who will be taking over the application and promised thet she will phone me shortly.

I phoned again at about 13h00 and spoke to a new person who finally helped me and told me that they need an OTP from the dealership for the motorycle and gave me Nadia's email address. Also told me that Nadia will contact me as soon as she receives it. I sent her the OTP about 15 minutes later.

I had to phone again at about 14h00 and I demanded that someone gives me assistance and I held for about 15minutes and spoke to one of the managers who did not even apologize after I gave her the details of her staff's incompetence. She said that she will investigate what happended ( typical reply from ABSA on HelloPeter) and that they will be proceeding to finalize my application.

What was suppose to be an instant result on loan applications, now became 48 hours later with still no result on the application and not one single phone call made by ABSA. It is absolutely appalling and the incompetence of the ABSA Vehicle Financing staff is shocking.

During all of this I contacted the dealership, filled in 2 forms and had a loan approval about 2 hours later, with another financial institution of course.

Luckily these days it is so quick and effortless to switch who you are banking with... ; )
