Incompetence and inefficiency
As is the case with many people in South Africa, my salary is paid into my account on 15th December. As a responsible adult I immediately paid my Absa credit card, not the minimum amount but thosands of Rands as I always do. I have a prefect credit record, have never missed a payment or paid late yet because I dared to pay my credit card early I was penalised for it. When I received a text message informing me to pay my account immediately I called the department and spoke to the consultant who told me that because I had paid on the 15th the payment had been allocated to the previous month and not to the January payment. I explained the situation to herbut she said she was unable to assist and that if i did not make another payment immediately it would affect my credit record negatively. I paid a further R13 000 the next day but to add insult to injury I received to notifications in the post informing me of my supposed delinquency and once again threatening my credit record. This practice shows a flagrant disregard for basic business processes not to mention incompetence, and inefficiency. I am in complete disbelief that despite explaining the situation and in spite of the fact that paying employees on the 15th of December is common business practice in South Africa I am being treated in this way. I deman an immediate apology and confirmation that this attrocity has not affected my impeccable credit record. In addition, I want confirmation that this will not happen going forward. It is beyond my comprehension that despite being the bank with the highest fees and the worst service delivery this manner of customer service is what is delivered to your platinum customers. If I do not receive a response that I deem satisfactory I will be handing this matter over to my legal department and the financial services ombudsman for resolution.
