Impossible to cancel ABSA credit card.

I've been trying to close my absa credit card. Started the process about a year ago. You go to the branch, they refuse to do it and tell you you have to call a number. You call in a number, wait 50 minutes, and give up. You try again. And again. You email them. You get no acknowledgment of your mail. You mail again. And again. And again. Nothing. They obviously rely on the fact that you will give up and just continue paying the monthly costs.

Oh but but they are fantastic when you request a call back for opening a new account. Got a call back within 10 minutes. Then explained to the lady why I submitted the call back - desperation to speak to someone, anyone. She then obviously said that she can't help but will be sure to get the card division to call me back. Imagine my complete shock when that didn't happen.

ABSA - you suck. The most pathetic bank in SA.
