"Immediate" interbank payments

Requested to make immediate interbank payment. Made the payment and my accounting does not show the deduction. Thought that there was an error and wanted to pay again. Luckily the payment page shows the last payment amount and date. Phoned Absa for assistance, waited close to 10 minutes for someone to pick up.

Operator tells me that for the first 2 immediate transactions they take 60 to 90 minutes to release the payment "for security" purposes. When you make the payment it warns you that it's immediate and at your own risk. You acknowledge and accept the risk.

I almost made a second payment because the payment did not reflect in my payment summary. The transaction does not show in the "pending payments" tab on internet banking.

I'm paying R65 for this immediate payment, which is now not immediate. I expect a refund for part of this transaction fee which should have happened immediately

Whether the payment goes of now or 60 minutes from now for "security" purpose is pointless if you can not reverse it per agreement. What is the point if someone does not phone you before releasing the payment after 60 minutes

Not well thought through Absa
