IIP's suddenly prohibited on my account
I have a savings account with Absa from which I have been doing Immediate Internet Payments (IIP's) for as long as IIP's have been available. Today I proceeded once again to do an IIP, but this time received a message that the transaction was pending and that it could take an hour. An hour and a half later I logged on and found the \Transaction Prohibited\". I called Absa'a call centre and spoke to Belmong who informed me that IIP's cannot be done on a savings account. Strange, because I've been doing this for a long time. He confirmed with his team leader that this was the case. After holding on for a long time I spoke to Belmong's team leader Sthandwa who confirmed again that IIP's could not be done on a savings account. I explained that this was not acceptable as (1) I have done many IIP's in the past, and (2) I am given the option of making an IIP when I make a payment. Sthandwa said she would follow up with the Support team and call me back - I explained to her that I would be waiting for her call as it was critical for me to make an IIP. She confirmed that she would. (This call lasted an hour - most of it holding on). Sthandwa did not call and my problem is still not solved"
