I paid credit card early and got punished for it

I made my monthly credit card payment early on 18 December 2020 because I was paid on 15 December. So what I thought was a responsible action has led to me being listed as a late payer because of a technicality. The statement closed on 22 December 2020 and that is apparently the reason I am now listed as being in arrears until 26 January. So in effect, even though I have not missed a single payment in years, I am know punished for it. The call centre agent took no interest in my explanation and even yawned on the call. She made it ut to be my fault because I didn't bother to inform the bank of the early payment. So if I had waited until 26 December to make my payment, I would be in a better position and have a better credit record. Thank you Virgin and ABSA. As soon as my card is paid up I will move my business from you. Useless and uncaring staff you have too.
