I need my paidup letter

I'm so disappointed with how difficult it's been to just close my Absa credit card,from calling the call centre where there was no option for card closure,to having to having to call back and request closure,and having to send an email requesting closure and now I've been begging to get a paid up letter.Can someone please be so kind to advise as to why such a lengthy process when I want to be sent free than when I initially took the card.
