I feel completely let down/ humiliated/ stressed/ and am now contemplating closing my account with Absa as this is not fair according to the banks standards and regulations.

I have app**** for an overdraft and was told by a lady named Nkosi that the money would reflect latest 12 o'clock 29 April 2024. Which it didn't. I signed and did my biometrics as advised. My account shows money that's not accessible - I even registered for internet banking and I still see nothing.

I'm quite sure that a banker/consultant may not make such promises to their clients.

It was and still is a medical emergency. I've had little feedback which indicates no solid proof. So I can't even show that the money is there or coming so the process can begin at least.

I feel completely let down/ humiliated/ stressed/ and am now contemplating closing my account with Absa as this is not fair according to the banks standards and regulations. And it is not the first time.

  1. No changes ,no overdraft ,no personal loan. Nothing. I was given a letter to switch my salary and debit orders over to Absa from FNB this has made me nervous. I earn R69659.00 net salary / month plus I still have my mom's estate to be finalised, so there will be investments and payouts from there too, plus I have a house to sell.

I walked into Absa and got a cheque account and credit card. I used the credit card and then on the 10th of April paid the card 100% and have used it now.

I didn't pay half or make empty promises to Absa about paying my credit card. I just did it.

I have resorted to taking private loans because banks just let me down. Always an excuse and story.

While I'm at it, I am the executrix of my mom's estate and she banked with Absa too. Would you please send me an email for the relevant department for me to send my documents and finalize the estate.

As I've said before I have a medical emergency. I needed this money last week already.

07/05/2024 isn't going to help me- I can't wait that long.

If Absa is not willing to fulfill there promises to me I will have to consider another bank to bank with.

I cannot let this happen . I am aware of the rules and policies the bank has got to abide by - and telling a client that money WILL be in by 12 o'clock that night and there is no change, no money reflecting, no help on the customer care line. No answers. - it is against the banks policies and regulations. And the bank can be held responsible.

I am so upset. Honestly I laid a complaint and all I got is two references and a date????

I have already responded to your email with all the details.
Good day,

To begin it was not a call made from my cellphone or an incoming call to my cellphone at all.

It was in the branch, over the phone at the branch (karaglen shopping centre)
The date was the 28th of April 2024 the time was approximately between 13:30 - 15:30(as the branch closes at that time).

The lady that I spoke to over the phone said that her name was Nkosi and she said to me that the funds were approved - that's why I signed twice - and the money would reflect no later than midnight that night. And so I went with my fiance and we left and went home in good faith that was said would be kept to.

I app**** specifically for an overdraft of R250 000.00 as it is for a medical emergency that can no longer wait.

Yes I did receive only two calls which I missed as I have started up my own business and was unable to take the calls I did however try to call back and was sent from department to department and still I didn't come out at anyone who could assist. If you check my calls made to ABSA all I do is call In and enquire about my overdraft.

Hope this helps.
