I don't know what came over me to consider Absa.

I opened an account with Absa 2 weeks ago, I moved my salary and everything to the new account. Friday I got paid and then suddenly there was a FICA lock on my account, although I sent through 3 different proof of residence as requested, received my card and everything. I went to the branch and I got told there is nothing that can be done as the FICA department is not in office over weekends. So I was unable to get to my salary, I cannot pay anything and cannot even buy food for my family. How pathetic is that? It is now monday morning almost 11am and Still I have not heard anything. I am waiting for this to clear and I am moving my money away from this bank. I don't know what I was thinking opening an account with absa.

Reviewer Update
The account was eventually FICA'd at around 1pm. (don't know for how long this time). I still have issues with internet banking but I was told once again to go to the branch for that, for which I hope it is the last time I have to go to the branch and stand in a queue. Here is the point of me putting this on here. a Bank, or any institude for that matter cannot just tell a client sorry, you cannot access your money because certain departments are not open over weekends. It is not the clients problem, surely someone should be either on standby, or have the ability to override any of these systems when need be. I had to borrow money from someone and pay them interest simply because I had no way to access my salary. I had to phone and hope that my car payments can be moved until monday to ensure I do not pay any penalties on it etc. No one person at absa will care about what it cost ME to cater for THEIR problems. So here is my suggestion, instead of Absa only caring about the money they make from clients, instead read all the bad responses on hellopeter and actually take note off it and do something about it. Being proactive beats being reactive. Kind Regards Gerhard
