How long does it take to get a settlement letter and the a credit card closed?

<p>I am at my wits end. I have paid up my absa credit card and requested my account to be closed and a settlement letter to be issued and even after putting my complaint through to action line and having the reference ********** from them. Still nothing!!! </p> <p>What is shocking is that a friend of mine also paid off her account 2 years ago and requested it to be closed. Now absa says she owes monies on her card. It seems to be a trend. You give clients the go around and keep adding fees then tell the client the account was not closed. Its almost 3 weeks now that I was told the closure would be 3-5 working days and I am still waiting. No closure instead your card dept sent me a monthly statement, no settlement letter. </p> <p>It seems to be a way of keeping people in debt when they try by all means to pay up their accounts and you then get the go around once you feel you have accomplished something. I want my credit card CLOSED and LETTER sent to me asap. I have gone through all the loops from your credit card division, to enquiries and action line. NOTHING!!!!! Absolutely NOTHING! </p>
