How a bank account was opened with Absa using my name

A bank account was opened with the bank, without my knowledge and with me being at a very young age. This hurts because I only found out about it on the 20th June this year when I wanted to claim inheritance which was left for me by my father who died in 2010, now I don't understand how it is that an institution which is supposed to hold their security protocols up high like Absa allowed this to happen, calling them they told me that "it really isn't our issue" not understanding that the funds that were deposited into that account were supposed to be used for my academic career. Absa am really disappointed because I have asked for assistance many times from the institution only just to find the person who opened an account using my details and my name, just so I can get them to refund me the funds and for me to be able to get peace. I also don't understand how this happened because banks are supposed to verify documents and certain measures must be taken before a bank account can be opened or is the bank really that *********** now that they allowed for this to happen.
