Horrible Service and Prejudice

I went to apply for a loan of R350 000.00 on tuesday the 2nd of April, I was immediately approved for a max Credit card and was informed that my loan application needed to be sent through to their credit department because it had given me a loan of about R35 000.00 for 36 months on a R200K+ income. It made sense to me that the branch would refer that application to the credit department because what the system gave me was silly. I then asked the Consultant about the turnaround time of such escalation to which She rep**** that it would take few minutes... She added that She usually gets feedback even before she completes that flow/application. I was comfortable with that turnaround time. I waited in that branch until it was time for them to close, I was advised by the Consultant to give them until the next business day (Wednesday) Wednesday came and gone still no feedback, correspondence or acknowledgement of my application. I had made it clear to the Consultant that the loan was for an event that would have taken place on Sunday the 7th April 2019. The event was a first of the many charity events to come it featured Big names in the media. Here I am given false hope...waiting patiently for the final outcome.

I came back to the branch on Thursday to which I demanded to speak to the Branch Manager, the Consultant together with the branch manager called the credit department and were advised to tell me that someone at the credit department had died on the job and the entire ABSA Bank could not help me with my application at that time because only one person died. Not only was I patient and understanding with the whole saga from day 1... but I was also wasting my time and petrol, Had Norah and her team been efficient and given me feedback in time, I would have gone to another bank. I came back on Friday and Norah was called and she declined my application based on the fact that i get income every second day. When i disputed that Norah then changed and said the reason for the decline is that the income that Money in that "She" considers as income is less than what my accountant confirmed . I then asked her what does She consider to be income she told the consultant what it is that She considered to be income. I then said to the branch staff that doesn't make sense to me but its fine.. i will give my accountant feedback and ask him to only consider what Norah regards as income... this then reduced my income to about R94000.00 . When the new confirmation letter came through from my accountant her decline reason was "Too many attemps". My event failed as a result of such unprofessional-ism and prejudice. I suffered a reputational damage to my brand and acquired a R266 000.00 Debt caused by the bank wasting my time until the 11th hour where I had no option but to negotiate with suppliers to give me stock and supplies at risk. the main act (Celebrity) cancelled due to lack/absent of payment and many of her followers did not pitch. This comes from the bank that claims to be African. Don't wear the badge if your not ready to deal with the responsibilities that comes with that badge. A Bank that truly understands what africanacity is would have policies and procedure that are inline with the state of our socio-economy, background and economy at large. I was declined because of pre-conceived ideas, Norah said statements that are associated with color, She said that it was impossible that all that could be my salary or income...even went on to say ...other do this to evade certain things. I came back after the event to show them the damage this time i demanded to speak/deal with Norah's manager/superior who was so quick to offer then R35 000.00 that the system approved earlier on. I told them I would not accept that , then This person asked for my ITA34 to his/her surprise i produced it, then his/her decline was that an ITA34 for 2018 does not correspond with my income in 2019?????? How stupid is that ..or how stupid do they think I am? its an assessment for 2018 there is no way in HELL would the income be the same...as what I am getting in 2019 hence we do such assessments every year how does one even utter such ignorance. ABSA did not want to assist me period... could it be because of the color of my skin? Be that as it may... I wish they were transparent with me from day one, Instead of wasting my time and eventually putting me into so much Debt.
