Horrible service and dubious DebiChecks from Absa Home Loans
I have had my home loan with Absa for over a year, and last year with the interest rates I started struggling to keep up with my instalments and I reached out to Absa to request a restructuring, which was granted. As part of the agreement, there would be a change in the instalment which I was okay with as the current instalment was R6040 and the new instalment after the restructuring would be R6043. The month after my monitoring period ended, the bank sent me a DebiCheck for R6112, an increase of R72. I don't accept the DebiCheck and call them two weeks before the instalment is due to go off.
I was on the phone with Busani Mdlalose for over 30 minutes he requested the contract I signed for the restructuring and said he couldn't see on this side why the instalment had increased by that much and he would investigate. A week passed with no feedback, and I got a call notifying me I hadn't paid my bond, I told the consultant the money was in my account waiting for them to deposit the correct amount as I had already raised it with collections that the amount on the contract is not the same as the DebiCheck, she proceeds to say "I apologise I see that the amount that was sent via DebiCheck is incorrect it should be, 6043 I don't know how the 6112 was sent for approval". I asked her to have it fixed and they can debit my account on the same day or the day after, she says they'll rerun the debit.
Last week Monday, another consultant by the name of Tshidi Mosale called and said my debit still hadn't been paid and that was followed by correspondence that my restructuring would be cancelled. I explained to her I had been waiting for two weeks for the correct debit to be made on the system and that I had already informed them to debit my account the previous week which they said they would but still hadn't. I started getting frustrated as she did not understand what I was saying to her and she started responding with "hmmm" and "okay hmmm" as she just didn't seem interested and just wanted me to pay an amount that I didn't sign for.
Three weeks later the matter is still not resolved they have not bothered to respond to my emails, but keep sending me payment reminders. I am very dissatisfied and angry with the service as ultimately they want me to pay an extra 25 992 over the loan period because they have put in the incorrect debit, which is ridiculous. At this very moment, I am seeking to raise a complaint with the Ombuds since they are not interested in sorting this matter out.
