Horrible Service

Worst service ever In a country where we are used to bad service, this takes the cake!! After visiting an ABSA branch, trying to claim a funeral policy, to pay for my dad’s funeral, we were told we have no authority to lay claim to this policy we need to go to court to obtain a letter of authority. The individual at court was not willing to issue this letter and requested we take this up at the High Court. I am the beneficiary of the policy and we still need a letter of authority. For a funeral policy????? We decided to visit another branch to see if we get different results. Second branch was even worse as they were unable to even locate a policy for my mother, she passed in 2016. Her policy was also not paid out as again they required my bed ridden dad to visit a branch or a letter of authority!! My dad was buried out of pocket as we were unable to have the policy paid out to pay for his funeral. Even today, days after submitting the claim, no pay out. After sending ALL required documents a total of 12 times. Received confirmation that the claim for my dad has been processed and payment will be made within 48 hours. 48 hours came and gone. Phoned again today, now all of a sudden they require the burial notices and AGAIN the notices of death for my mother and father. How many times do we need to prove they are deceased?? After submitting the documents again, separate this time, I received an SMS indicating that the spouse must claim my mother’s policy. THEY ARE BOTH DECEASED, do you even look at the documents. Also received an email requesting the value of the policy???? Did you even look at the policy to see the value?? Phoned again this afternoon, received confirmation again that all documents are now in place. Requested to phone again in 24 hours.
