Home loan insurance policy- don’t listen didn’t cancel

Getting a home loan , I receive a call for home owners insurance, I accept the offer as insurance is required. I find out that insurance is not required for the property as the property that I require is included in the levies of the property. This was in November, I phoned absa insurance on 2 occasions and requested to cancel the issuance on the system(before the first premium and before the house is in my name so that I don’t have to pay.) I was then advised that they “can’t find the policy on the system” and that i must wait to cancel it because it’s not active. Yesterday 28.01.2025 my bond is registered in my name, I can’t see that the premium is high I phone to cancel the policy (less than 24 hrs the policy is active in my name) they then state that the policy is active and I must wait the whole month and that I can only cancel after the first debit order, so I must pay insurance for 1 month which I was tried twice to avoid as it was not required.
