Highly dissapointed Absa Client

I am highly dissapointed with the service that I received from Absa Bank.

I am currently overseas and need to close my account as I am no longer utilizing it.

I was told to provide a Power of Attorney authorizing someone to operate my account. I obtained the Power of Attonrney form from Absa website and provided authority to my sister to close my account and provided a certified copy of my identity document.

My sister was advised by Absa bank Liberty Mall Pietermaritzburg that the Power of Attorney is not acceptable as a Power of Attorney drafted by a lawyer needs to be provided and that my original identity document needs to be produced.. Therefore the account caanot be closed.

How can the Power of Attorney provided by Absa not be acceptable??? Also I am in overseas so obviously I would have my Identity document with me. Surely a certified copy should be acceptable???

To be a loyal client of Absa for over 10 years and receive this kind of service is unacceptable as there is no mention on Absa website that a Power of Attorney by a lawyer needs to be provided.

Dissatisfied client
