High cost of Credit life insurance

In around September 2015 I app**** and obtained a personal loan via the Absa internet banking site. During the application process it did request if I wished to take out credit life insurance which I clicked yes. Was given the quote and accepted the loan. The first debit order went through on the quoted amount after that an additional R395 has been added to the amount. Over the term of the loan that amounts to R23 700. Which is just below a quarter of the loan amount. If this cost is correct then obviously I would like to cancel this insurance. If it is required by law that I have to insurance then surely I can take out a life policy that if I don't claim returns my funds to me after 15 years. I do however feel that the full cost including the insurance should have been shown up front. By me paying the R395 I can reduce the loan term by 8 months. Yes this policy will protect the bank. But in reality does very little for me unless I die. Also I need to change my debit order details so if someone could contact me about that it would be appreciated as no contact numbers appear on any of the few documents I have
