High bank charges and no loan assistance

Been banking with ABSA for more then a decade. Tried to get loans and finance from them but always declined. Isn't your bank suppose to help you in need. Due to the reluctance of this bank my credit record went from bad to worse. The economy also ddint help and the workers class have to make ends meet. All I wanted from my bank is to help consolidate the arrears of other loans just to get the opportunity to start over. After the last attempt I was told to take out a life policy before I can get a loan. I did that but still no loan? Is there a better bank that look after its loyal customers?
