Heartless treatment by Absa

I have a personal loan with Absa and from the outset want to admit that, yes, I am in arrears. I made an arrangement with Absa in October to repay this loan at R500.00 per month from 7 October2019 going forward. This arrangement was accepted. To my surprise my savings account was debited on 13/12/2019 with the amount of R4500.00 (more than half the balance in my savings account) without any warning or notification. I went to my branch today and explained my predicament to the branch manager. She called the collections department and spoke to a Busisiwe Ngcobo who informed her that the arrangement made in October was only valid for oterne month, I was nat made aware of this at the time of making the arrangement. Busisiwe tpld the branch manager that she should call the attorneys and set up an arrangement and after the arrangement has been made she should call Busisiwe again and a refund will be arranged. She did as instructed, but on the return phone call to inform Busisiwe that the arrangement was made, Busisiwe denied that she said a refund would be made. I find this lying attitude from Absa staff appalling and the fact that they are so heartless to take more than half of my money a week before Christmas is ********* to say the least. I reported this matter to Absa complaints department who informed me that it usually take five working days for such a matter to be resolved. I unfortunately do not have five days to wait. Thank you Absa for ruining my family's Christmas.

The matter of the refund has been resolved. I do however find the events which took place only hours after the refund issue being resolved quite interesting and disturbing. On 17/12/2019 I made an arrangement with Andrew Moote from Brookes and Luyt Attorney to pay R750.00 per month for three months, staring 07/01/2020, after which the situation will be reevaluated. To my surprise I received an SMS from the said attorneys today stating that a final letter of demand has been issued and that I should call them to make payment arrangements. I called them and spoke to the very same Andrew Moote asking him why I received this SMS. He first responded that the arrangement is in place and valid, but when I insisted to know why this SMS was sent to me he could not answer my question and told me to hold on to speak to his supervisor. After a lengthy wait a person who identified himself as Jafta came on the line. He did not give me his surname or designation. I must state that I found this gentleman very rude as he kept interrupting me while I was putting my case to him. To cut a long story short, I eventually asked Jafta if the arrangement made with Andrew still stand, yes or no, he refused to answer the question upon which I saw no need to carry on this pointless conversation and ended the call. I attempted to discuss this poor service from the attorneys with Absa collections department who is the attorney's client but was told that they cannot help me and I should take the matter up with the attorneys as the case was handed over. I find this very unprofessional as the representative from the attorneys refuse to answer a simple question and Absa is not prepared to discuss the matter with me.
