Gangster Bank
Shocking Service and Customer Care. My mother, 84 years of age, has been placed under debt review due to her not being able to repay her debt. The debt was accumulated (R154 000.00) whilst not being of a sound mind and being assisted by two persons with alternative agendas and manipulating her into giving them "Power of Attorney" over her banking accounts. My mother has no recollection of when and how her debt was app**** for. I do have a Medical Doctor’s assessment of my mother’s mental well-being as confirmation of her not having the mental capacity to apply for debt, and or allowing anybody else to do so on her behalf. I cannot comprehend how Absa's Risk Division allowed for this amount of debt to be obtained by a 84-year-old pensioner who receives a pension of R12 000, minus R6000.00 documented expenses. On the 13th of May 2024 , I received a call from an ABSA agent regarding her outstanding credit card of R80 000.00, The balance had been outstanding for 3 years, on which I made a settlement offer of R50 000.00. The offer was accepted, payment made and POP sent to ABSA. On request of the documented agreement, I spent a day calling all available numbers in ABSA to obtain this agreement. Although the payment was reflected on the account, no record to this agreement could be found. In this event, I was de*****ed by ABSA, in that an Absa agent or representative had called me under the pretences of being able to settle my mother's outstanding debt. Excepting the ***** and misrepresentation, I have been struggling for days on end to speak to somebody in Absa's legal department. No phone numbers are available. I am pleased that Absa is not my bank, and will never in my life have a good word for this gangster bank.
