********** transactions on my account.

Someone did ********** telephone banking withdrawals and transfers from my account on the 9th April 2018. Reported it to ABSA and SAPS the same day. ABSA first took nearly 5 months to respond and, like in the majority cases I saw, only offered 50% as "goodwill" and said that I must have handed out my information (blame-shifting). The funny part is that I am registered for internet banking and NOT telephone banking. I then objected to it and following is the last messages between me and ABSA. No use to go to the Ombudsman as I saw, on HelloPeter, they apparently do side with the banks. Following are the emails between me and the bank: As said previously, I DID not hand out any information to anyone as suggested by this message.

We did however DO an upgrade at Vodacom but once again I did not hand out ANY passwords.

The only way the correct details could had been used is if it was ABSA personnel then who DO HAVE ACCESS to my account information.

I unfortunately also know that I will have no luck with the Ombudsman if I read all the HelloPeter complaints, which I will also notify, therefore I have no choice but to accept your offer. Nice to be in a Corporate environment where the smaller people can be bul**** into such agreements.

I will be awaiting the transfer back into my account.

--Original Message-- From: ********** Date: 05/09/2018 10:23 PM To: ********** Cc: ********** Subject: DISPUTED TRANSACTIONS: ACCOUNT NUMBER: *******-1723 FOR THE AMOUNT OF R 9,330.00. ***** case number ASZA-1 ********** 7 Good day ABSA finalized their investigation and offered me 50% of the ****** funds. It was not my fault that your systems allowed these unauthorized withdrawals as I was not linked for telephone banking, only internet banking. All suggestions made by the ***** department was done already at the time. The ***** was done either by internal measures or someone with internal assistance and I can and will not be held liable for system failures. I financially cannot accept 50% of the ********** withdrawals but insist on 100% of my losses. I can also not wait another 5 months to address this issue. Regards Henry Meintjes

Hi Claudette thank you for your reply. As said already, looking through HP the Ombudsman nearly always sided with the ABSA. I thus decided to accept the 50% offer to finalize this long overdue matter. Regards
