I am disappointed at ABSA for not honouring their promise. I reported a ********** debit order on the 27th of October after it had went off on the 25th, at Bryanston branch. I was assisted with reversing the debit order and applying a stop debit order at an exorbitant fee. I filled out a report that was supposed to go to their ***** investigation and I was told I would receive an SMS with a case number within 3 to 5 working days and would be kept informed on the process. Almost three weeks later, I still have not heard from them. As per the Ombudsman for Banking Services, the bank has the duty to assist in verifying the source of the debits after I have reported a ********** debit order and further investigate if the company has the mandate. ABSA has not met this requirement. I reported a second ********** debit order from a different company on the 31st, a reversal and stop debit order was done again at an exorbitant fee, I was refused to report this one on the ***** investigation form as I was informed by the consultant that they will review all my accounts based on the previous report I made. ABSA, you have a duty to fulfil and I expect to hear from you in this regard. I was informed that a stop debit order is not guaranteed, so if it goes through at the end of the month, I have to be inconvenienced by going to the bank and being charged such high amounts? I have no relationship with these companies and not a clue how they got hold of my banking details or any other details they have.
