********** bank

On the 14th of September my father in law was ****** of his credit card by 4 ******s at a teller. Within 15 minutes the card was cancelled and reference number received.

30 minutes later the ********* started withdrawing money, until a few days later 37 000 was ******.

On a visit to an Absa branch he was told that the card was cloned, and the pin changed.

This can only be done with the help of an insider in Absa - aka Absa employee. This is *****, and Absa's problem, and not the client.

Absa's response to all this have been disgusting, and utterly disappointing, if not outright **********.

They phone this 80 year old man 7:1 am in the morning and said they will pay out 50%. We find this very odd, and pecu****. He refused and demanded full compensation.

They responded with a letter saying they will not pay him out anything since he did not want 50%. This amounts to bullying, and are a absolutely unacceptable response by a supposedly professional business. They even cited false information on the letter saying the card was cancelled on the 18th only. We have all the evidence, and witnesses willing to testify in court that it was done immediately on the 14th. a Branch visit confirmed this, showing that Absa is behaving **********ly on this matter.

It is absolutely disgusting that Absa treats an elderly client of Volskas/Absa of 60 years in this way.

we will hold Absa liable for the full amount, legal and travelling cost incurred, and the trauma heaped on an 80 year old man, by Absa's dishonest and ********** behaviour.

We will publish this on every possible public forum via websites, and articles, until Absa decides to do the right thing and compensate this pensioner for all costs and trauma.

Shame on you ABSA, no wonder banks like Capitec are taking your clients on a daily basis.

As I have not received any help or feedback, this is the latest information;

It seems the big problem lies with the fact that when Stop Card was phoned, they did not stop the card as instructed.

The card in question is the debit card of Mr Bosman's wife, which is on the same account, and linked.

He phoned, and asked in his stress and panic "stop my wife's credit card" They asked if they should stop his card, and he said no, my wife's card.
1) The person at the call center, having all the account information before her, has the obligation to make sure which card on the account must be stopped.
2) The person at the call center should have seen that the card is an debit card, and not a credit and confirmed it with Mr Bosman, whom was clearly in a stress situation.
3) Either way, he was given a reference number CNH 250 on 14 th of September at 15:23 pm and told the card is stopped.
4) What card the operator stopped nobody knows, but the intention was clear that it was supposed to be that of EA Bosman, and the fact that the operator did not ask for clarification on the fact that there is no credit card for EA Bosman is an error on Absa's side, and not the distressed clients problem.

The withdrawals began 10 minutes later, but being elderly pensioners not schooled in internet banking, they did not know until a few days later.

It is absolutely unacceptable and indictment of bad attitude towards the client, for Absa to try and wiggle out on a irrelevant technical point, when the operator is actually at fault for being negligent and not making sure with the client what card to stop.

We still have questions as to how the pin could be changed without an Absa employee help, but the main problem seems to be the Stop Card operator.
