*****: RE OPENING CREDIT CARD AFTER 3/4YEARS

<p>I was contacted by a courier firm to deliver a new credit card 2 weeks ago. <br /> I refused/declined this request and did not accept the new card.<br /> Upon which I was informed to contact Virgin money - They gave me the number, as I did not even know or had records of this as the account was paid up and closed so long ago already.</p> <p><br />I immediately contacted Virgin Money and explained to the consultant that I did not request a new card, as the account was closed almost 4 or more years ago upon my request nor did I request to open a new account.<br />I was then informed that a amount of R638.71 was owed by me. I requested to know how this account can be in debit as I do not have a card or even an account number to do any transactions with.</p> <p>I could not even recall most of the Security questions as this account was closed so long ago and most of my details have since changed.</p> <p>How is it possible to owe something on this account so suddenly years after it was closed?</p> <p>The consultant I spoke to, was not even able to refer to the reason why suddenly this card has been opened or for what the transaction was or when it took place.</p> <p>I also requested to be supp**** with all statements from the paid up account to this day . I also said that I will be refusing to PAY ANYTHING and that I will report this to the Financial Ombudsman.</p> <p>Why suddenly do I owe money, if this is a card that had been closed years ago?<br /> Surely I would have been contacted by an attorney or debt collector if the debt is 4 years old? <br /> For that matter, I was never once contacted via cell/email/phone/SMS or anything about owing any amount to Virgin Money since my account was closed.</p> <p>I was able to obtain statements for the following months:<br /> 1) 10 Feb 2016 to 9 March 2016<br /> Total Balance on 9 March 2016: R638.71 owed by me.</p> <p>2) 10 Mar 2016 to 8 April <br /> Total balance on 8 April 2016: R1954.40 CREDIT DUE TO ME?</p> <p>How is is possible for me to owe something one month, and the month after that, have you owe me money? <br /> There is a transaction on my account for R2600. 00 that was certainly not made by me, and as it has NO REFERENCE (***), how should I even trace it?</p> <p>Please do tell me, who made the electronic payment on the 4th of April to the amount of R2600.00? Not ME! I wasn't even aware of anything on this account until 2 weeks ago!</p> <p><br />This is REALLY UNACCEPTABLE. <br /> Please pay the money as indicated as due to me, to my current account at Standard bank and CLOSE THIS ACCOUNT once and for all so we can both move on from this!</p> <p><br />STRANGE -just as "NEW" card was to be sent the story begin telling me that suddenly I owe money. NO, NO I AM NOT A FOOL</p>
