FORCING ME OUT OF HOME, INTO A BRANCH, 74 YEARS OLD, SHOULD BE ISOLATING

Why on earth do I bank with ABSA - time to re-consider.

Received sms telling me to request renewal of my debit card “in branch, online or on the app”. I have no intention of visiting the branch at this time, as I am 74 years old and told to stay away from crowded places. I have gone into my internet banking and cannot find out how to apply on line. I do not have the app.

Typical of ABSA to make life as difficult as possible for clients. Please call me on *** and advise me what to do. NB: if you do not respond within 90 days’ time, I will NOT be paying a renewal fee.

I sent the text above as an email to Absa on 3 Feb - have not heard a word. Tried phoning today Gave up in frustration. Verification code did not arrive until well after I had given up listening to the recorded voice saying "we are waiting for the response to the verification code". It needs to arrive before I can respond, for goodness sake.

Nothing is ever simple with ABSA. Why can other banks be seamless in such matters, and ABSA such a nightmare?
