First-Time Customer Outraged: Fix Your Gross Incompetence, Lies, and Unauthorized Charges NOW!
I am outraged by the absolute incompetence and dishonesty I’ve encountered from Absa regarding my vehicle finance. On 19th September 2024, I signed and collected my vehicle from WebuyCars, with Absa as the finance house. Here’s where the negligence and complete disregard for customer service began.
At the end of September, no debit order was processed. Then, on the 14th of October 2024, I received an SMS stating my account was in arrears. This was the first I heard of any issue. I immediately contacted your call center and spoke to Mogau Sindiswa Rammala, who **** to my face, claiming that a debit order was “attempted” on the 25th of September but bounced.
First off, I had requested that the debit order be processed on the 26th, as I get paid the evening of the 25th. Second, I received no SMS or notification about a debit order attempt on the 25th, nor is there any bounce fee on my statement. Mogau had the audacity to dismiss my concerns and instead demanded that I “must pay the amount.” When I challenged her, she was uninterested, and I ended the call after realizing I wasn’t getting any help. To top it off, she left a note saying I was a rude customer—how is it surprising that anyone would be angry after being accused of arrears due to your negligence?
On 15th October, I called again and spoke to John in the collections department. Guess what? He confirmed what I suspected all along—there was NEVER a debit order attempt on the 25th, and in fact, Absa had failed to even load my debit order in the first place! Despite this gross error on Absa's part, John arrogantly insisted I pay, and even had the nerve to act like he was doing me a favor by offering to split the payments. How exactly is this my problem? I refuse to pay for your *****-up, especially not for a payment five days after taking credit.
I escalated the matter to your complaints department and spoke to Modirwadi Kedibone Sebetha, who logged my complaint. On 18th October, I received a call from Kedibone informing me that my complaint was resolved. She confirmed that my first payment should have been on 26th October 2024, but the kicker? The contract I signed at the dealer was NEVER LOADED into your system, and a new one was created on the 18th of October.
Now, here’s the real shocker—the loan amount on the new contract is R145,115.13, whereas I originally signed for R142,132.08 on the 19th of September. Where the hell did an extra R3,000 come from? I didn’t sign up for this, and I will NOT tolerate this blatant attempt to **** me with unexplained charges.
I demand immediate answers and action on the following:
1. Explain—right now—how my loan amount increased by R3,000. 2. Why was my debit order not set up as agreed, which led to this unnecessary and avoidable chaos? 3. What steps are being taken to fix these issues and ensure I don’t face any more problems?
This entire experience has been a joke, and I’m fed up. If this is how Absa treats its customers, stop pretending to be the “most trusted” bank. I expect a swift response, a detailed explanation, and the full correction of these errors immediately. Anything less is unacceptable.!!!!!!!!
