FINANCIAL XENOPHOBIC ATTACK AT ABSA
Being a sad week of brutal Xenophobic attacks I feel I too have been subjected to the same by ABSA bank. My account was suspended without notice while I was over 500km away from where I stay and I was left stranded. My account was apparently suspended due to my permit which expired in Jan 2015 yet as of Feb I had gone to my Port Elizabeth Rink Street Branch with my slip from Home Affairs to prove my renewal application was being processed. When I discovered my account had been suspended I visited the nearest ABSA branch which was the Plaza branch in Mtata & I experienced the worst service one can expect from a bank. First they demanded I provide proof of address despite me telling them I stay in PE, I don't know if they wanted me to lie and provide a **** Mtata address. Secondly they told me my home affairs slip was of no use to them & that Home Affairs should not pass its problems to them. Thirdly, after all this frustrating experience I asked that they close my account so I can get my cash & go home but they refused to do that either and the final stroke was when they advised me to go & borrow money to go home. This I feel is a Xenophobic attack on me, I still can't get my money!
