Fed up with the service of absa
I recently app**** for a reduction on my car installment and after much struggle the bank finally approved my application and sent me an email saying that my installment would be reduced by 50% starting the end of April only to find that at the end of April they went and deducted the full installment as per usual. Naturally the debit order bounced as I only made provision for half of the installment as discussed. I received a phone call from vehicle finance asking why my installment was not paid and after explaining the story to the guy I made another agreement with him that since the d/o bounced they can deduct the full installment end of this month (May) to make up for the outstanding payment. Then on the 20 of May absa went and tried to debit my account for the full installment and once again the debit order bounced because the agreement was to debit on month end. Obviously now at this point I’m extremely upset with absa because we make arrangements and they don’t honor their side of the agreement and it’s a bad reflection on my account (unpaid debits) AND I’m being held liable for the charges charged for the unpaid debits! On Monday the 24th I went to the Clearwater branch to call vehicle finance and explained the whole story to the guy that “helped” me, unfortunately I didn’t take his name. He was not much of a help and simply told me to call Dora Mapoane as she is the person that deals with my account. He gave me a contact number for her and said he did not have an email address for her. I tried calling this Dora person since Monday, there is never any answer on this number, the phone just rings. Up to today nobody from the bank was able to assist me regarding this matter, I get send from pillar to post. I’ve been a client of absa for more than 20 years and I’ve had it with them now. I think it’s time to close all my accounts and just go to another bank that take their customers seriously.
