Falling for the ABSA Private Banking Carrot
I engaged with an ABSA consultant last year where ABSA tried to retain my business by promising prime interest rate on an overdraft facility should I switch to Private Banking. At the time I was not ready to move over to ABSA. I then re-engaged a couple of weeks ago with a Private Consultant and again the prime carrot was dangled to get me to do the move. The obligatory credit profile assessment condition was included, which I understand. But when you are told that you have an excellent credit rating and as good a score as you can get in ABSA but still dont get offered the promised rate, then the false advertising alarm bells ring. ABSA offered me no reason on why they decided to not honour their promise as my current rating with the bank cannot be improved. All I can do is warn fellow consumers to not fall for these false promises.
