Failing Absa
Today I wanted to ask a legal question, phoned the number given on the internet, after pressing the usual press this and that I arrived at the client care. The recorded message started with "Due to the lockdown ..." Hellooo Absa, if my memory serves me right lockdown ended approx 1,5 yrs ago. Waited but nothing happened, then phoned my branch at Colesberg, had to phone 3 times as no-one answers the phone. Person I spoke to said she didn't have a clue how to answer my query but would get the correct number for me to phone and call me back. No call back received. What happened to Absa? Used to be an efficient, top class bank. Get your act together, guys.

31 Aug 2023, 15:02Trying to get my questions answered has turned into a nightmare. They do not read my emails and keep giving me answers which has nothing to do with the questions I asked. I have a history with Absa going back 30+ years and can't express my disgust enough.

02 Sept 2023, 15:088 Emails later I received an answer to 1 question, the 2nd was never answered. It was obvious right from the start that Basani was trying to brush me off and didn't bother to read my emails. As a test I posed the same questions to FNB. Within 24 hrs a consultant phoned me with the answers and confirmed it by email - very impressive. I was also told by Basani that my grandson, who works in China, cannot open a savings a/c whereas FNB has no problem with it and has a division that deals with overseas clients. I definitely would not recommend Absa to anyone.
