I app**** for an Absa personal loan online on Wednesday 15/05 and received confirmation via e-mail that my application was being processed with Reference VK1-NKX-RFS-946 and I was to reply to that e-mail with my payslip, bank statement, ID and proof of residence within 5 days before they could complete my application. On Thursday 16/05, I e-mailed ALL these documents and on the same day, received a response thanking me for sending the documents and indicating that they have begun processing my application. I waited for their feedback, until on Monday 20/05, I decided to call them on ***and the unfriendly consultant I spoke to told me that on her side it shows that they never received my documents. Needless to say, I was unhappy about that and I indicated to her that I received confirmation from them that they received it and she just abruptly told me to re-send the documents to a different e-mail address ********** and told me that subsequent to the e-mail I'll receive an e-mail with a reference no. and I must call them back AGAIN with that reference no. I was upset, but I obliged. I called them again with that ref no from the e-mail (C- ********** 0) and spoke to a guy who took the reference and told me that someone was going to give me a call about my loan on that same day. Two days later, no one has called me with the feedback, instead I've just received an SMS from Absa stating that my loan application has been withdrawn because I never sent the required documents and if I'm still interested in a loan, I must start a new application. I am appalled by this service, no wonder people are now using the likes of Capitec as their bank of choice for loans and day to day transactions. How can you make a client wait for 7 days for simple personal loan application??? And how can they have such a messed up administration system?? I thought online applications were meant to give convenience to people like us who have no time to go and sit at the branch, but this is worse than sitting and waiting in the queue inside the branch. I was actually considering leaving my current bank of 20 years and switching my salary to Absa, because I have my car insurance with them and I had a Credit Card with them years ago, but I don't think I want that anymore... I'm even considering moving my insurance to another provider.
