Estate late account with no ID number

Is it possible that ABSA cannot provide banking details on an estate late account reflecting the ID number of the deceased? After numerous requests, being referred to the ATM, etc this is apparently an impossible task. So the deceased's investments cannot pay out to his estate late account as no external investment company can assume that the estate late account with only initials and surname is the correct estate that they need to pay out to. Of course an ID number is necessary.
