Early debiting of my account without consent.
What is the point of an agreed upon debit order payment date if Absa does not honour it!? My agreed debit order date is the 27th of each month yet today, the 25th, my account was debited. There is an agreement in place for a reason. Salaries only get paid on a specific date, which is why clients specify and agree upon a specific debit order date when signing of the contract occurs. Early debiting, without prior consent, is not only a gross violation of this contract but also incurs surcharges that the customer is then expected to pay and also results in a clients credit behaviour being affected. If the debit date falls on a Sunday then debit should occur on the Monday. Absolutely disgusted at the lack of communication and the lack of foresight shown in this instance. When calling to confirm said debit order date, confirmed as the 27th by the customer care line, I did not appreciate hearing the customer care person laughing on the other end of the phone when advising my account was debited early and that it is not acceptable. Gross misuse of account access and terrible way to treat a customer.
