Don't insure with Absa

I was involved in a car accident on the 21/05/2018. An accident that was not even my fault. I failed to get details from the lady that was involved in the accident as she left the scene and went to the hospital for a check-up. I, however, did get the contact details of her mother and provided the contact details to my insurance company the same day when I registered the claim. Absa rejected my claim because during the inception of my policy with Absa idirect, I mentioned that I had two accident claims with previous insurance companies. I unintentionally forgot to mention that I had a windscreen claim. This was not done with intent as I honestly forgot about the windscreen claim and only remembered about it when the claims consultant dealing with my claim informed me about it on the 28/05/2018. I obtained details about the incident with my previous insurance company on the 29/05/2018 & 30/05/2018. I also unintentionally forgot about a claim I made on the 15th of June 2015, details of claim obtained on the 29/05/2018 and 30/05/2018 from my previous insurance company. This was a claim that was made for scratches on my car that was not approved as the damages/claim amount fell within access amount. This “claim” was never mentioned because I truly forgot about it during the sales conversation when the consultant obtained full disclosure of previous claims. I fail to understand why a claim that was not approved is concluded as me not providing full disclosure of claims. I was never informed that “intent to claim” should also be disclosed as a full disclosure of claims. I paid for the damage out of my own pocket. How is that a loss to an insurance company when you pay out of your own pocket for damages? Absa looks for all these excuses when validating a claim. Does it even count that the accident is not my fault? Did they even call the number I provided them with of the person that caused the accident? They are so quick to take your monthly installments every month but when it comes to putting a client first, they come with excuses. If I knew what I know now I would never have switched from my previous insurer to Absa idirect. If you fail to remember all your claims that you had 3 years ago, why don't they do follow up's during the inception of your claim or during the sales conversation? As per someone I spoke with at Outsurance that is what they do. Absa honestly just want sales targets, hence they don't follow all these processes. My car was settled on the 11/05/2018, and all Absa is willing to do is refund all monthly premiums received since the inception of the policy, less any claim paid. I am an Absa staff member but I am utterly disappointed in how they handle things and understand now why people would rather go to other banks.
