Doing this as I am desperately trying to get a response from ABSA
I wanted to see if I could place a claim for damage caused by a contractor on my household insurance policy. The person on the phone immediately logged a rejected claim due to “consequential loss” based on clause 10, on page 7, of the policy document. I fail to understand how they concluded that a “consequential loss” applies – there is no consequence of a prior claim or adverse event. Nobody from ABSA will explain to me how this was “consequential loss” was concluded. As the claim was immediately rejected, at the time of enquiry, any attempt to get any additional information or assistance from ABSA, along with information on how to appeal the rejection, so as to obtain a valid reason, is fruitless. I firmly believe that clause 2.9, on page 9, of the policy document should be considered but I am getting absolutely no response to that as a consideration or any other response from ABSA. To date ABSA (other than read receipts) have not responded to my many emails in this regard either. I am seriously going to be approaching a broker to attempt to move my household insurance from ABSA to another firm based on “no service” or help from ABSA.
