Doggy businesses practice at ABSA
I transferred money into one of absa's home loans account by mistake last week Monday. I then went to the branch on Saturday because by time I knock off work it's closed, the lady at the branch told me the homeloan department is closed during weekdays and I must call them during the week. I then called on Monday spoke to a consultant by the name of Thembi whom I explained my matter to she then said to me she will escalate the case and they would refund the money back to me, I asked her if she didn't want my account details then she said no, the money will be sent back to the very account ii come from within two days. I asked for a reference number she said I must use her name time and date which was Thembi 15/02 10:02.
Today I called the home loan department to follow up as no refund was received in my account. I spoke to Siyabonga, explained to him what had happened and that I just wanted to follow up, he then went in the account confirmed that the money was indeed there showing as a credit but for me to get my money back I would have to get a lawyer to request it on my behalf. I was confused and him "does he expect me to get a lawyer who will probably charge me more than the money in that account to request ABSA home loans to refund money that I accidentally transferred to them back to me" and he boldly and confidently said yes it procedure. I then asked him if it was procedure why wasn't I informed of this when I called on Monday, he couldn't answer me.
I honestly don't understand is absa and it's employees taking me for a ride? do they want to keep my money for them selves? Since when does one need a lawyer for her own money to be transferred to them and the account that money was sent to is not even owing.... Absa is practicing poor business practice there is something that seems in ethically with all of this.. Absa and both those employees must account and come clean
