Do NOT trust ABSA to handle your building insurance or home loans

On the 24th of December 2019 while on holiday we received news that our pool pump was damaged by the heavy rains during December month in Gauteng. So, because I have my home loan and building insurance with ABSA I opened a claim on the 24th of December knowing this will be a tight fit for someone to replace the pump. I received my claim number and an email giving me a blank space where the name of the assigned person working with the claim is suppose to be. So now the fun starts. I phone the contractors assigned by ABSA to find out when they can assist and I was told that they can come and assess and replace the pump, with telephonic approval by ABSA, on the 30th of Dec. Great so on the 27 of Dec we where contacted by the contractors saying they have an earlier opening to assist us 15:00 that same day, so in a hurry we arranged for someone to be at our home to provide access so that the contractors can assess and replace the pool pump, however only the assessment happened and that was the end of it. later the day the contractor contacted me via whats app strangely enough asking me to provide the name of the person who gave them access to our property as ABSA was requesting so. In return I provided the details.... From there the road ended, as I am typing this complaint I still have not heard from ABSA nor the contractors again and we are at the end of the 3rd of January 2020, 10 days since opening the claim and with a green, mosquito infested pool. Trying to get hold of someone at ABSA was fruitless, sending and email to ABSA's claims department was fruitless, I guess ABSA is on holiday using the insurance payments we make in order to get cover. This is what clients get for staying with a bank for 27years, I hope ABSA suffocate in their lack of client service and go down like Eskom and SAA!
