Do not take out a bond with ABSA
ABSA have admitted that it is their standard policy to now and again take small amounts of money from clients accounts, without permission, without authorisation, and without notifying the client. In their own words, if the client asks for the money to be refunded, they will refund it. If the client does not notice that ABSA has taken the money, ABSA will keep it.

Believe it or not, the banking ombudsman has stated that this is a fair banking practice.

I would be interested to learn whether other banks are involved in this scheme.
