Distressful treatment
Dear ABSA Debt Review Team,
I am currently under debt review and remain committed to fulfilling my monthly payment obligations. Following a bereavement in the family, my debt counsellor submitted a Form 17.3 requesting temporary payment relief. However, I was recently informed that ABSA has terminated the debt review without any prior communication or formal response to the submitted request.
Prior to this termination, I personally contacted your debt review team to follow up on the status of the Form 17.3. During that call, I was advised that the debt counsellor had submitted incomplete information. I immediately engaged the debt counsellor, who then sent a follow-up email to ABSA — copying me in — to provide the necessary clarification and documentation.
Subsequently, I was informed that the matter was still under review. It is therefore unclear on what basis the debt review was terminated, especially given that the Form 17.3 was submitted, acknowledged, and never formally rejected.
This lack of transparency and procedural fairness is deeply concerning. I respectfully request that someone from your team contact me urgently to clarify the basis for this termination. Furthermore, I ask that my account be reinstated under the debt review structure, as the termination does not appear to be procedurally justified.
Your immediate attention to this matter would be appreciated.
