Disgruntled ex - ABSA client

ABSA bank was my first bank account I had. Due to the poor service and NOT very user friendly everything being so complicated I then moved my bank to Capitec.

Anyway I still had a ABSA loan which I took out in 28 March 2014 and as life happened I was unable to pay - I was retrenched and then covid etc I was under debt review and couldn't commit to my monthly repayments. then in 2019 I started working again and obviously wanted to get my credit score up again and this is when I started paying again and then last year 2024 I received all these messages to say I can get a discount on my loan and when I pay so much It will be cleared. - this is then what I did, I paid off the discounted amount within 3 months as agreed with ABSA and it was done.

I never received a paid up letter and thought all was in order and good and that my credit status would update as they said it will take 3 months from date that it is updated.

Well it is September 2025 and the arrears amount still shows R24 on my credit profile and I cannot apply for a bond or anything because it is still reflected as bad credit.

I have reached out to ABSA bank but they say because I don't have a profile with them anymore they are unable to send me a paid up letter . they can confirm I don't owe anything anymore but they cannot provide me with a paid up letter.

so this now leaves my credit score still showing R24 k and NON is able to assist me with a pai up letter.

I logged a complaint with ABSA : ***, still no reply.
